QA Manager
Kortext was founded with the purpose to empower the next generation of difference-makers through teaching and learning. In a little over five years we became the UK’s leading personal learning platform and supplier of digital textbooks. The QA Manager will be responsible for establishing the vision and direction for Quality Assurance, and for directing the day-to-day operations of the teams that perform software testing.
Working in close co-operation with the product and development teams, the Quality Assurance Manager applies analytical and business skills to evaluate existing and identify new or enhanced systems, products and processes which advance business objectives.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Lead and manage a team of experienced QA engineers onsite/remote testing multiple software releases
• Design, implement and manage the overall strategy for the Quality Assurance team.
• Scope and manage the manual and automation effort with a focus on repeatable and efficient testing.
• Create, measure, and report out key metrics for the performance of the QA team, as well as the quality and health of the various product lines.
• Lead the design and implementation of testing frameworks, test infrastructure and tools to perform full end-to-end testing of our software products.
• Own the QA defect processes and documentation and ensure that a standard process is being followed across the organization, and that proper tooling and reporting are in place.
• Collaborate with Development, Product and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality products and processes.
• Understand business objectives and build alignment and buy-in across functional teams.
• Oversee internal processes and procedures to ensure quality.
• Manage the log of quality reports and other quality documentation.
• Participate in Defect Management
• Ensure needed reviews/inspections/approvals of test designs and test cases are completed.
• Applying technical skills related to the product being tested (knowledge of programming languages to software QA, knowledge of machinery for hardware, etc.)
What are we looking for?
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical field, or commensurate professional experience.
• Minimum 8 years’ experience testing web and/or mobile application development and multi-tier architecture solutions
• Minimum 8 years’ experience backend testing applications such as servers or data warehouses
• Clear understanding of established test methodologies and techniques in use by the QA department
• Good problem solving and analytical skills as well as strong written and oral communication skills.
• Understanding of the full software development life cycle
• Familiarity with front-end and back-end performance best practices
• Ability to adapt swiftly with a willingness to undertake challenging tasks to ensure stakeholder satisfaction.
• Experience with common software engineering tools and processes
